Track 1: prospective doctoral students

Prerequisites

Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent from a university in the field of natural sciences.

Application process

1. Applicants submit their application to the Systems Biology PhD Program via the central Life Science Zurich Graduate School (LSZGS) online application tool external page JOIN.
2. Applicants will be assessed by the Systems Biology admission panel on the basis of their application and the letters of recommendation.
3. Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in an online admission interview with the admission panel as well as online interviews with inividual research groups.
4. Applicants who pass the admission interview and successfully conduct individual interviews with research groups may thereafter be invited for a second round of interviews. For the second round, candidates may be invited to an in-person visit in Switzerland, or to a more extensive second online interview. In case of an in-person visit, travel expenses will be reimbursed and accomodation provided.

After admission

After having found a position in one of the programs within the LSZGS, students register with either the University of Zurich or ETH Zurich, depending on the affiliation of the respective research group leader (PI).
